Three Mississippi Kites, 2 adults and a juvenile have been observed daily for several days, and after 3 trips to the park, I finally managed to see them this morning. They sit and preen in several dead trees on the perimeter of the small park, fly to catch nearby dragonflies, and return to their perch. Although they seem to frequent this area, and may have nested nearby, they are gone for long stretches during the day.
Distinctive red eye visible in some lighting, and the rufous cast in the feathers clearly visible when images are backlit.
