How can I post photos?
An attachment box will appear below the message box. Use it to browse on your hard drive to the photo you want to post. You might want to practice in the Just Testing forum until you get the hang of it.
Who can post photos here?
Unlike in the Photo Gallery, anyone can post photos here - not just O.O.S. members. But the photos must be related to a genuine identification issue - non-members should not use this forum to try to get around the membership requirement in the Photo Gallery.
What kind of files can I post?
Files are limited to 100K in size, and are limited to the standard graphics file types (.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .png., .bmp). If you attempt to upload a file that doesn’t fit within those limits, your message will still show up, but without the photo file. If you need a larger photo to show the details necessary to make an identification, or if you need to post a file other than a photo (sound file, movie), write to webmaster@ohiobirds.org.
How do I add more than one photo to a post?
You will need to add one photo at a time. Once you have made your original post, you can edit it, and add another photo. In this forum, you are limited to five photos.
Hi Ned, thanks for this post. When I have tried to post my pic of a sparrow like bird, I cropped it so that you can just see the head and now it's below 100K in file size. However, when I try to post the pic, it gives me an error message stating that it can't transfer the file from..something like tmp.php some other letters and numbers to your website. It seems to be defaulting to another folder that isn't the path that I specified, which is where I put the picture on my home computer, which is also the same computer at which I am typing the post.
It seems to be a program setup issue on your end, but anyway if others are having the same-or similar-issues, maybe this will help. But I'm glad this website exists for those of us who like to hike in the woods and know what it is that they're seeing.
Best regards, Mark
