Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas II. Ohio's second breeding bird atlas is a state-wide cooperative effort that will rely upon the participation of bird enthusiasts to document the current distribution and abundance of breeding birds in Ohio. This project will provide an exciting way to learn more about the birds of Ohio, while contributing valuable information for the conservation of birds in the state. Ohio contains an amazing amount of avian diversity and a primary goal of this atlas is to document this diversity. Although the second atlas will be similar in many ways to Ohio's first atlas, there will be a number of exciting additions thanks to new technologies. There is plenty of opportunity for you to participate, whether you want to venture into more remote parts of the state, or simply survey birds in your own backyard!

Please Submit Data!!

With the winter months ahead, please consider submitting all Atlas data that you may have. Please mail data or enter observation online by December 31, 2008. If you have questions about data entry, please contact us or consult the data entry tutorial. To explore current Atlas results, click HERE.

PLEASE NOTE: In early 2008, a new 8th edition of the DeLorme gazetteer was published. This new version is no longer compatible with the Atlas survey grid. This event was unforeseen but our block IDs have not changed as a result. As of February 2008, it was still possible to get a copy of the 7th edition at stores such as Target and Barnes & Noble. If you have questions about this, please contact us.
