We believe that by sharing our enthusiasm and knowledge we can preserve Ohio's heritage of wild birds for generations to come. There are many ways in which you can help:
Become a Member
The Ohio Ornithological Society welcomes as a member anyone with an interest in birds or natural history. You do not need to be an ornithologist or even an experienced birder—EVERYONE is welcome! Your membership dues will help to fund our organization, enabling us to produce our publications, programs, and events. We hope you will show your support by joining OOS.
- quarterly or combined biannual issues of The Ohio Cardinal journal
- seasonal issues of The Cerulean newsletter
- reduced rates on member field trips and birding events
- participation and a vote/voice at the annual meeting and birding conference.
The OOS is a volunteer-operated organization. We welcome the assistance of members from across the state for help in operating and increasing the effectiveness of our organization. There are many ways to help. Volunteer opportunities range from simple to complex and from brief to involved—you can become involved at a level comfortable to you. For example, you could spend less than an hour distributing OOS flyers at your local bird club, nature center, or bird store, or you could assist with the development and operation of our website. Make a Donation
Like most non-profit organizations, the OOS occasionally seeks funds beyond the membership dues to help the organization grow and prosper or to fund new initiatives/take advantage of new opportunities. If you are interested in making a contribution to help support OOS, please contact a board member or use the appropriate line when completing our membership form.
In Kind and Stock Donations
We are also open to donations of field guides, binoculars, bird art, and other items that may be sold at auction for fund-raising purposes. Please OOS Donation.
Thank you for your interest in The Ohio Ornithological Society. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting or on our next exciting field trip.
